So your the proud owner of a brand new iPad or iPad Mini – and of course you want the most from your investment!
So I am proud to provide my own personal top tips for the iPad.
Top Tip #1: Get a case!
My first top tip is to buy a decent case for your iPad and there’s some jolly good reasons for this advice. Firstly you’ll find that the back of the iPad scratches easily, and this over time will become ugly and affect resale prices. The second reason is that a case can offer massive protection from knocks and drops – imagine smashing that amazing screen only days or weeks after buying the device – you’d be annoyed, even heart broken!
The final reason to buy a really good case is the additional versatility they can offer when using your iPad – from adding a bluetooth keyboard, to offering the ability to keep your iPad upright and at various angles. My personal choice of case ended up as this one: Belkin Slim Folio Case.
Top Tip #2: Learn the lingo!
Back in the days of keyboards(!) people used to learn shortcuts to make their lives easier and make common functions quicker to execute – for example, “control c” to copy and “control v” to paste. Well in this new era we have a new form of shortcut called “gestures”. The iPad has some fantastic ones; most people are already familiar with the pinch to zoom in and out, but the iPad takes this to a whole new level. One such example which I found extremely useful was the “4 finger salute” which basically entails putting 4 fingers on the screen and moving upwards. This reveals all your running apps, and allows you to very quickly switch to another one. Much faster than the usual way of achieving this on an iPhone for example which is a double press on the home button. There are probably many many others but I found this extremely helpful in day to day use. Here is a link with a few more details on iPad gestures.
